The client brand holds a firm following of camping and outdoor weekend warriors of all ages. But many of the brand’s loyal customers are subway-riding, escalator-scaling, laptop carrying, metropolis commuters during the week. The SLC series aims to support these customers in their city life commitments between weekend endeavors.

SLC is also an opportunity to show customers that their favorite camping brand seeks to understand and consider them, even beyond the core relationship on the campgrounds.

DESIGN SEEN FELT

SAME, NOT SAME

This bottle pocket expands inward towards the bag's center rather than bulging completely outward. This simple tweak addresses :

●lateral stability
●the slender body profiles of our Japanese city dweller target market
·the spatially unforgiving commutes that they navigate daily

SUCCINCT

This organization cluster was revamped from the first version by fine-tuning each compartment dimension, re-strategizing seam assignments. The extra effort resulted in a symbiotic leap for both the manufacturing efficiency of the bag in addition to a smoother user experience.

●Pocket depths leave measured visibility of long objects

●A high-placed mesh enclosure catches light for visibility of tiny objects and its bottom-left corner is rounded to guide content towards a common corner near the bag center.

●Stiff foam sleeve pocket doubles as sturdy small parts compartment cluster and maintains neat form of the entire compartment; a big improvement from the saggy cluster of the previous version.

●Bulky items that require less light to retrieve get plenty of space at the compartment bottom contributing to low center of gravity

COUNTING CULTURE

The exchanging of meishi 名刺 (business cards) holds a ceremonial significance when it comes to professional networking in Japan. Strict protocols surround the body language of the exchange itself, card quality and storage, and the displaying of cards during meetings. Within the SLC line, this item is the simplest to construct but is maybe the most heavily culture-driven in design.
